John Unger and his dog Schoep have been together for 19 years. Towards the end of his life, Schoep has been suffering from arthritis and dysplasia. So every day, John would go out with him to the lake, go into the water and cradle his furry friend gently. Whenever Robin thinks about our love for animals and animal loneliness, she thinks back to this story and how we all need love.
