SHOW NOTES
Tonight’s story comes from Ottawa, Canada where the residents of the Stirling Park Retirement Community went out for a day of some fun on ice. Paired up in tandem sleighs, they were able to take a spin on the World’s Largest Skating Rink. This story moved Robin deeply and tonight she will share her thoughts on why we need a whole lot more of gestures such as this one.

You might be familiar with Your Holiday Mom, which is another one of Robin’s social change projects. It provides support to LGBTQ children during the holiday season and moms all over send letters of support to kids that desperately need it. Robin recently came across a program where dads are joining in to help the cause. It’s called Dragon Dads and it’s a community created around dads loving their LGBTQ children. The group is a way for dads of LGBTQ children to share advice and learn how to best support their kids. Go Dragon Dads!

Do you often find hesitant in asking for advice? It’s odd how much difficulty some of us have with simply acknowledging that we’re not properly trained for something and that someone else might be delighted to help us out. Knowing what you don’t know is an amazing skill to have and seeking advice is not a sign of weakness. Tonight, Robin is going to share a few stories from her life that demonstrate how we build community by lending each other with a helping hand.
